GOD'S PROVISION IN 2010 –
Joshua 3

I. The Israelites Got What They Had Been Dreaming And Praying About For Hundreds Of Years
   A. Abraham first got the promise of Canaan Land - Gen 17
   B. God brought them into the land 40 years earlier but due to weak faith God would not let them enter - Num 13
   C. Now only Joshua and Caleb were alive from the first attempted entry and God sees this generation is ready
  D. The land was full of milk and honey and was the land God had promised to his people Deut 8:7-9

II. God's Support for His People
A. The Jordan was overflowing at harvest time when God told them to cross over- Josh 3:15
   B. He let them sit 3 days to see how impossible it was to cross over without God
   C. Three Lessons God gave his children
      i) God had already carried them through many issues
         - remember that God took care of you for 40 years - Deut 8:2
         - he led them by a cloud and fire
         - he rained down food from Heaven
         - he gave water from rocks
      ii) God was with them when they crossed - Josh 3: 1-4
         - the water opened only when they had courage to step in
         - the priests and the arc stood in the middle of the Jordan River as they crossed to show was caring for them
      iii) When the Israelites passed over then the priests and the ark followed - Josh 4:11
   D. God was with them every step of the way to show his protection  

III. Applications To Our Lives
   A. We are going into uncharted waters in 2010 - we have never been this way before
   B. We will encounter things this year that we can not deal with without God
   C. God required them and to:
      i) be consecrated - Josh 3:5
      ii) be courageous - Josh 3:13
   D. If we trust the Lord and step out in faith  , we can have the greatest year of our lives
