When The Mirror Does Not Lie
James 1:19-27

I. The Bible Is God's Roadmap To Heaven
A. Our knowledge of God's word is decreasing because we don't study
B. The Bible is in 1800 languages and is the world's best seller but
seldom read
C. The Bible is God's mirror to show us how we REALLY are so that we can change

II. We Must Prepare To Study God's Word
A. We must be " ready " to hear
B. Ezra read the word to the people and " gave it sense "
C. Many people can't hear God's word because the world is stuck
in their ear like an IPOD
D. Satan has a conspiracy to undercut everything about God and his word
and it's WORKING

III .We Must Examine Ourselves To Determine If We Are Ready To Study The Word
A. We must get ourselves under control
i) O ur tongues under control realizing everything we say reflects on
our Lord
ii) C ontrol our anger - make no friends with an angry man ( Prov . 22:24 )
B. Get the filth out of our lives
i) W e don't eat at a table with garbage on it
ii) T he word means " ear wax " - we can't hear with wax in our ears

IV. We Must Apply What We Hear Or It Does Us No Good
A. Be doers and not hearers only
B. Hearers only are those that " audit " God's word with no
responsibility
C. Doers are those understand they are accountable
D. Faith only without action does no good
E. There are two ways to apply God's word
i) C asual way - observe what we are and quickly forget making no
change and taking no action
ii) C areful way - sees and takes action ; receives God's blessing

V. God's Tests To Determine If God's Word Is Making A Change
