PATRIARCHAL AGE  (Part 2)

Adam to Moses

  I .  Abraham, Genesis 15

     A.  God promised Abraham that he would be the person through whom the world would be blessed.

     B.  God blessed Abraham because he trusted God even though it took a long time to fulfill his promise.

     C.  God blessed Isaac, Abraham's son with twin boys named Jacob and Esau.

  II.  Jacob and Joseph

      A.  Jacob has 10 sons by Leah and 2 sons by Rachael.

      B.  Joseph was Jacob's favorite son.

      C.  God spoke to Joseph in a dream.

      D.  Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery and let Jacob believe Joseph was killed by an animal.

III .  God takes care of Joseph .

      A.  Jacob's brothers threw him into a pit.

      B.  Jacob became his master's favorite slave.

      C.  When Jacob refused to sin with Mrs. Potiphar, she had him put in prison.

      D.  God tells Joseph the interpretation of Pharaoh's dream.

      E.  Joseph was made second in command only to
Pharaoh.

IV.  Joseph and his brothers

      A.  Joseph's brothers come to Egypt looking to buy food.

      B.  Joseph's family moves to Egypt .

      C.  Before Joseph dies, he asks his family to take his body back to Canaan .
