THE GREAT JAIL BREAK
Acts 16: 16-40
I. A Woman In Plilippi Followed Paul Crying " Behold The Servants Of The Most High God "
A. She was possessed with a demon
B. Paul did not want Satan to have any part in God's work
C. He cast the demon out of her
D. Her handlers seeing she could no longer make money from her foretelling the future brought Paul to the Judge
II. Impact On Paul And His Party
A. They were arrested
B. They were accused
i) they were a different race ( Jews )
ii) they disturbing the peace
iii) they were teaching different customs
C. They were convicted and beaten with rods
D. They were imprisoned and put in the inner cell and put in stocks
E. At midnight they were praising God in prayer and songs
III. Impact Of Their Imprisonment
A. The prisoners were listening
B. The prison experienced an earthquake that opened the doors and loosed
the chains but no wall or ceiling failed
C. The Jailer
i) was awakened from his sleep
ii) prepared to kill himself thinking the prisoners had escaped
iii) stopped when Paul cried out that no one had left the prison
IV. The Jailers Conversion
A. He asked " what must I do to be saved " Paul said " ______ on the Lord Jesus and you and you will be ______ "
